Ruben Amorim
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is preparing for a challenging encounter against Everton, with potential absences of key players adding to his concerns. Despite United’s strong home form, winning their last four league matches at Old Trafford, Amorim’s squad may be without three important players for the upcoming fixture against the Blues.
Ruben Amorim said: “It’s not that serious. We have to be careful. Kobbie Mainoo didn’t train today but we hope he will tomorrow.” Amorim went on to add that he expects to have Sesko back in the middle of December, saying: “(It will be) more or less at the same time (as Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo leave for the Africa Cup of Nations), I don’t want to say for sure but when they are going to the camp I expect to have Ben back.” The United boss also insisted that his side are showing better form ahead of the visit of the Blues, saying: “Yeah, I think we are showing that but important thing is that it doesn’t matter what we did in the recent games. We cannot forget we suffer a lot in those games and play every game like it is the last one.”
Amorim’s comments highlight the uncertainty surrounding the fitness of forward Benjamin Sesko, who sustained an injury during the 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur before the international break. While the injury is not deemed serious, Amorim emphasized the need for caution. Additionally, Kobbie Mainoo’s participation in training remains uncertain, though Amorim remains hopeful for his return.
The anticipated return of Sesko in December coincides with the departure of Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo for the Africa Cup of Nations, presenting a potential challenge in squad depth during a crucial period. Despite these setbacks, Amorim remains optimistic about his team’s form, acknowledging the importance of maintaining focus and resilience in every match.
Adding to United’s injury concerns, David Moyes, in his pre-match press conference, revealed that Merlin underwent hernia surgery, sidelining him for several weeks. Moyes expressed hope for Merlin’s return by December, further underscoring the injury challenges faced by United as they aim to continue their impressive home run against Everton.
