Dominic Solanke Bournemouth
Tottenham Hotspur have been navigating a challenging period in the Premier League, currently sitting in fifth place with a record of five wins, three draws, and three losses from 11 games. The team’s injury list has been a significant hurdle, with key players such as James Maddison, Dejen Kulusevski, and Radu Dragusin yet to feature this season. Additionally, Dominic Solanke, Yves Bissouma, and Archie Gray have missed substantial playing time due to various injuries.
Solanke, in particular, has been a notable absentee. The 28-year-old striker, who joined from Bournemouth last summer in a £65 million deal, has only managed three appearances and 49 minutes on the pitch this season. An ankle injury disrupted his pre-season, culminating in minor surgery at the end of September. As a result, Solanke has not led the line for Spurs for nearly three months.
Thomas Frank said: “We’re very aware of when we get Dom back, we hope – touch wood – we have him back and no setbacks, so we are very aware of doing it the right way, so it’s going in the right direction, he will not be available before the international break, so that’s the status right now.”
The Dane provided a further update last week: “Yeah, I think the international break will be the big deciding factor because we have two weeks there to push in the next steps. As I say, it’s going forward. Just to take it instead of the questions every single time because it was clearly that he was not ready before the international break. It’s more, we look after the international break, that’s what we’re aiming for. I think we always want to get it right, but I think it’s important to get it right so he’s out there, can help the team and we need him back.”
The potential return of Solanke is a beacon of hope for Tottenham, especially with the North London Derby against Arsenal on the horizon, scheduled for Sunday, November 23. Solanke’s presence could provide a much-needed boost to the team’s attacking options, which have relied heavily on Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani in his absence. The focus now shifts to Solanke’s progress in training over the next week, which will be crucial in determining his availability for the crucial clash against their arch-rivals
