Nottingham Forest is gearing up for a significant match against Leeds United as they aim to ascend the Premier League table. However, the team is currently grappling with several injury concerns that could impact their performance. Before the Leeds encounter, Forest will first focus on their midweek fixture against Sturm Graz, with manager Sean Dyche managing a growing injury list.
Sean Dyche said: “I don’t know yet. We are in (Sunday) so I will get more of an assessment after then.”
“We’ve lost another couple (Luiz and Hudson-Odoi). We’ll wait to find out the depth of the injuries. Callum has got a knock and we have to be careful because if that is a strain rather than a dead leg, it’s trouble. We’re waiting on Dougie (Luiz).”
“I have made a note of them because we have got a couple of knocks. Angus Gunn hasn’t been playing but is part of the squad, but he has opened up his knee ligaments.”
“Zinchenko is a no at the moment, unfortunately.”
“Woody is going to be possible for the Leeds game. He won’t make this one (against United). We will have to see how that goes.”
“Bakwa is still a no but is making good progress.”
“Ola is making good progress.”
Douglas Luiz was forced off in the 14th minute of Forest’s draw with United due to a suspected hamstring injury. This setback comes shortly after his return from a previous hamstring issue that sidelined him for three games. Callum Hudson-Odoi also sustained a knock against United, requiring further assessment to determine the severity.
Angus Gunn, Forest’s third-choice goalkeeper, has yet to make an appearance since joining the club due to knee ligament damage. Meanwhile, Oleksandr Zinchenko, on loan from Arsenal, has been struggling with a groin injury and has not featured since a Europa League match against Porto.
Chris Wood, who has been managing a sore knee since the October international break, is hopeful of returning for the Leeds game. However, he was unavailable for the recent United fixture. Dilane Bakwa remains sidelined with an undisclosed injury, although progress is being made. Ola Aina, who sustained a hamstring injury while on international duty for Nigeria, underwent successful surgery and is expected to be out until the new year.
These injuries present a significant challenge for Forest as they prepare for their upcoming matches. Dyche will need to carefully manage his squad to navigate this period, with hopes of having key players back in action soon.
