Daniel Farke
Leeds United’s recent defeat against Brighton has intensified the pressure on manager Daniel Farke, with fans expressing concerns over his ability to lead the team in the Premier League. Despite a previous victory over West Ham, Leeds struggled at Brighton, conceding early to Danny Welbeck and later to Diego Gomez. The club now faces a challenging schedule, including matches against Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
Daniel Farke said: “We don’t have to over-analyse the game. There is no sugarcoating, they were the better side. Overall in the game it was quite equal – 50/50 possession. But out of their possession, they were far more clinical. We didn’t start very well. We weren’t brave or confident. If you’re 1-0 down in the away game, it’s always difficult. After that, I was impressed with how we handled it. Deliveries were not as good, and missed chances. Felt we were not that far away from equalising, then we gave the 2-0 and 3-0 in quick succession.”
The defeat has sparked a wave of criticism from the fanbase, with many questioning Farke’s tactical decisions and team selections. Some supporters have called for immediate improvements, fearing that the club might face relegation if the current form continues. The upcoming match against Nottingham Forest is seen as crucial for Farke’s future at the club.
Reader KJ Davies says: “Farke has 1 game to save his position as Leeds United manager! If Leeds don’t beat Nottingham Forest next weekend, then the 49s must take action. Yesterday’s game was the worst performance I’ve seen! Farke got it all wrong with tactics and formation. Farke is not an EPL manager. Twice he got Norwich promoted, twice he got them relegated. If he sticks around much longer, after spending £110m, and playing football like this, then I think we all know where we’re headed to. Team selection and tactics are awful. Captain’s armband given to the wrong player. Rodon is more of a captain than Ampadu.”
Harry Bendon is feeling pessimistic: “Absolute nadir. Clueless from DCL. This is truly relegation form. I reckon Farke has just 3 more games to sort this shower out, otherwise he will beat the Christmas turkey.”
Bobbankboy says: “Relegation fodder. We are going down and we deserve to. This was much worse than Arsenal! No fight, no guts and no quality, these are the recipes for relegation. We are supposed to be Mighty Leeds United! I’m so fed up with this lot now!”
MrPastry1959 writes: “The summer acquisitions have added little to what is a good Championship team. Yes, it’ll be a relegation battle all the way. Us, Wolves, Burnley? Forest will be fine. Sunderland? Much smarter than us at every level of the organisation. Farke will go, sooner or later. Like the guy, but he’s lost.”
The sentiment among fans is clear: without significant changes, Leeds United may struggle to maintain their Premier League status. The next few matches will be pivotal in determining both the club’s trajectory and Farke’s future as manager.
