Thomas Frank is keen to bolster his attacking options at Tottenham Hotspur and has reportedly set his sights on Brentford’s forward Thiago. Having previously signed Thiago for Brentford in a £30 million deal from Club Brugge, Frank sees the Brazilian as a potential leader of Tottenham’s frontline. Despite a challenging last season marred by a severe knee injury, Thiago’s form has caught the attention of other Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and Newcastle. However, Brentford’s manager, Keith Andrews, has firmly stated that Thiago is not for sale.
Keith Andrews said: “I’ve said over the past few weeks, I was really happy when the last transfer window closed. Thiago is going absolutely nowhere, absolutely nowhere, he’s a pivotal part of this football club, he doesn’t want to go anywhere, that won’t be happening.”
Andrews continued: “I think he wants more, that’s what I’m hearing! He’s clearly in a very good place, great rhythm in his game, playing with confidence, enjoying life. He’s been a critical part of what we’ve done. It’s nice to hear that he’s been nominated, because he deserves it.”
Andrews added: “He’s already shown he can be a top performer in the Premier League. He gives the opposition a headache, the way he plays the game. I’m not sure many players will relish playing against him. He’s very demanding of himself. Some players you have to push and some players you have to rein in – he’s definitely the latter. He’s in a great place and we want to keep him there. He’s very, very determined to achieve things; as a team, first and foremost, but, by doing that, he will also achieve things as an individual.”
Thiago’s nomination for the Premier League Player of the Month for October underscores his impact and potential. Andrews emphasized Thiago’s selfless approach and his ability to score diverse types of goals, which has endeared him to his teammates. The Brentford manager highlighted the importance of getting Thiago into a rhythm and building strong relationships on the pitch.
While Tottenham’s interest in Thiago signals their intent to strengthen their squad, Brentford remains resolute in retaining their star forward. Thiago’s current form and determination make him a valuable asset, and Brentford is keen to keep him as a central figure in their campaign.
