Fabian Hürzeler
Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler has expressed optimism about his team’s recent performances, though he acknowledges they have not been consistent throughout the full 90 minutes of play. Hurzeler emphasized the need for improvement in specific areas to ensure the team can maintain their competitive edge.
Fabian Hurzeler said: “I think the performances we are seeing, also the last performances, there were a lot of positive things. Now it’s about the small details, like how to defend the box, how to defend the edge of the box, how to defend a give-and-go. All these small little margins, we have to do it 90 minutes. At the moment, we are switching off in the main actions, we’re not staying alive and that’s an easy change we can do. But I think it’s also natural, like when we see that the players who are on the pitch, most of them are really young players and they are not on the highest level at the moment. So I think that it’s natural that, if you’re not in the highest level, in some moments we are struggling. The main thing is really that the individual players get back to their best shape and then the whole team will profit from that. That’s our responsibility, together with the individual players, to get them back on to the highest level. And then I am sure we can be very strong as a team.”
Hurzeler’s comments highlight the importance of focusing on the finer aspects of the game, such as defensive strategies, to achieve a complete performance. He pointed out that the team tends to lose focus during crucial moments, a problem he believes can be rectified with ease. The coach also noted the youthfulness of the squad, which he sees as a factor in their inconsistency, as many players are still developing and not yet at their peak.
The head coach’s remarks underscore his commitment to working closely with individual players to help them reach their full potential. By doing so, Hurzeler is confident that the team will benefit collectively, ultimately leading to stronger performances. His approach reflects a long-term vision for Brighton, where nurturing young talent is key to building a formidable team.
