James Milner’s absence from Brighton’s League Cup match against Arsenal was notable, and manager Fabian Hurzeler has provided clarity on the situation. Milner is expected to miss two or three matches due to his current injury, but Hurzeler remains optimistic about his recovery, describing him as a “good healer.”
Fabian Hurzeler said: “It might be two or three matches. It’s not a big one. He is a good healer.”
Kaoru Mitoma, another key player for Brighton, is also facing injury concerns. Mitoma is recovering from an ankle injury and has returned to training. However, his participation in upcoming matches remains uncertain, as he may require a late fitness test to determine his availability.
Fabian Hurzeler said: “Elsewhere, Kaoru Mitoma remains a doubt as he recovers from an ankle injury. Hurzeler confirmed he’s back in training and could return before the international break, though a late fitness test may be needed.”
In addition to Milner and Mitoma, Brighton’s squad faces further injury challenges. Midfielder Brajan Gruda and defender Joel Veltman have a “small chance” of being involved in upcoming fixtures. Hurzeler emphasized that players with minor issues might not be available, suggesting that the squad from the Arsenal match will likely remain unchanged.
Fabian Hurzeler said: “Also, the players who still have small issues might not be available. There are small chances, but I think that the squad from the game vs Arsenal will be the squad.”
Brighton’s long-term absentees, including Jack Hinshelwood (ankle ligament), Adam Webster (knee ligament), and Solly March (knee), continue to be sidelined, leaving Hurzeler with limited options as he navigates the team’s injury concerns.
In contrast, Leeds United manager Daniel Farke shared a more positive outlook regarding his squad’s fitness. Farke confirmed that Leeds has a fully fit squad available, a situation he greatly prefers.
Daniel Farke said: “A situation I prefer much more.”
As both teams prepare for their upcoming fixtures, Brighton will be closely monitoring the fitness of Milner and Mitoma, while Leeds United enjoys the advantage of a fully available squad. The contrasting injury situations could play a significant role in the teams’ performances in the coming weeks.
