Thomas Frank
Thomas Frank, the current head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, has expressed his admiration for the legacy left by former manager Mauricio Pochettino. As Frank navigates his early days at the helm, he draws parallels between his start and that of Pochettino, who is fondly remembered as one of the club’s most successful coaches. Frank remains optimistic about his team’s potential, aspiring to mirror the achievements of his predecessor.
Thomas Frank said: “Yeah, it’s not only that example but I think it’s a good example because of course Pochettino is a legend here. What he built, what he was part of achieving, I think it is definitely a spell I looked at when I was not here and of course, I was very aware of when I got offered the job. I always looked at that and thought wow, what he built, what they built together there was quite unique and quite impressive. I think any success in football history is more or less from clubs and teams that had the same head coach or manager for a long spell. I am relatively happy with where we are, I would say relatively happy because I always want more.”
Frank’s admiration for Pochettino is evident as he acknowledges the unique and impressive era the former manager established at Tottenham. Pochettino’s tenure is often cited as a testament to the value of stability and long-term vision in football management. Frank, who has made an identical start to Pochettino after 13 games, is eager to build upon this foundation and is optimistic about the future of his team.
In terms of player fitness, Frank provided updates on key squad members. Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke continue to recover from knee and ankle injuries, respectively. Meanwhile, Cristian Romero, affectionately known as “Cuti,” has begun light training, signaling positive progress in his recovery.
Frank said of the trio: “Cuti just walked out on the grass running with some of the performance guys, so it’s positive, he’s progressing. Still no timeframe but I don’t expect it to be a longer one. Destiny is not on the grass yet, but still progressing, so again, not a longer one. With Dominic it’s positive, he’s taking steps in the right direction every day.”
Additionally, Randal Kolo Muani is pushing for a starting position after impressing off the bench against Monaco. Frank also addressed concerns about Pape Sarr’s fitness, reassuring fans that there are no issues with the player.
Frank added: “There’s nothing wrong with him. In general, I’m happy with Pape.”
Frank’s early tenure at Tottenham is marked by a blend of ambition and respect for the club’s history. As he continues to shape his team, the parallels with Pochettino’s era offer both inspiration and a benchmark for success.
