Amex Stadium Brighton

Brighton & Hove Albion fans have expressed their dissatisfaction following the relocation of the big screen at the north end of the Amex Stadium. The screen, which was moved as part of the stadium’s development work, was first seen in its new position during the game against Newcastle. It is now situated higher and further to the west, affecting visibility for fans in the North Stand who can no longer see replays, the game clock, and other details. While the West Stand benefits from the new arrangement, fans in the East Stand have reported a less favorable view.
Paul Barber said: “You will see that work to build our new 1901 Club pub at the north end of the stadium is well under way with the club’s offices now relocated to the Portakabins at the bottom of Bennett’s Field.”
The relocation of the screen has sparked a range of reactions from fans. Ian Beddows shared his frustration on Albion’s Facebook page, stating, “Absolutely c***! That’s why we were singing we want our screen back.” Simon Fisher noted the issue of light interference in the East Lower, saying, “In East Lower it would be fine except for the light behind it which means you get dazzled trying to look at the screen.” Vicky French mentioned the poor view from the family stand, while Matt Sparkes suggested the need for an additional screen to accommodate all stands.
Sarah Sowerby said: “Now above our heads! We used to turn round to watch the replays, etc. We pay a lot for our season tickets, the least we ask for is a view of the screen for replays, VAR decisions, time left to play, team info and safety announcements.”
The screen’s relocation is part of the development to open the new 1901 Club pub and hospitality area behind the goal at the north end. However, fans like Anne Vasiliou from the East Lower have voiced concerns about the inability to see goals scored at the opposite end of the pitch. The new arrangement seems to favor those on the west side of the stadium, leaving others dissatisfied.
Warren Morgan said: “Surely for public information and safety reasons – particularly with accessibility in mind – everyone should have a clear view of the stadium screens and be able to read what’s on them. The new arrangements don’t do that.”
While some fans, such as Adam Slaney, question the necessity of the screen, others like Chris Tipple have adapted by using the South Stand screen. The ongoing development at the Amex Stadium, including the new 1901 Club pub set to open next season, aims to enhance the fan experience. However, the screen relocation has highlighted the challenges of balancing development with fan satisfaction.
