Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor has opened up about his aspirations, revealing a dream to one day play for the renowned Argentinian club, Boca Juniors. Since joining Sunderland from Zenit St. Petersburg last year, Isidor has adapted seamlessly to life in the Premier League, already scoring three goals this season. His connection with Sunderland fans has been strong, as evidenced by his frequent messages of gratitude to supporters following matches.
Wilson Isidor said: “I’ve been waiting for this moment since my first steps at the club, so I’m very happy. Right from the start, many moments made me believe that Sunderland is home for me and my family. On the plane from Zenit, I received so many messages from the fans, and then I saw the stadium and met the people for the first time. At my presentation against Burnley, I knew the fans would always support me and this has been true in my best moments and the toughest. I love playing for Sunderland, and this is just the start.”
Despite his current commitment to Sunderland, Isidor has expressed a desire to eventually test himself at La Bombonera, the iconic stadium of Boca Juniors. His interest in the club was piqued during his time at Zenit, where he played alongside Wilmar Barrios, a former Boca player who shared captivating stories about the club.
Wilson Isidor said: “I’m lucky enough to have played with a player who played there when I was at Zenit, Wilmar Barrios, and wow – this guy told me incredible things about this club. So I think Boca Juniors would be my dream club.”
In addition to his club ambitions, Isidor also harbors international aspirations. He is yet to decide between representing France or Haiti at the World Cup, with Haiti having already approached him.
Wilson Isidor said: “I would like to set myself the goal of going to the World Cup, it’s definitely still a dream. I have two possibilities: France and Haiti. Haiti has already approached me, but I haven’t made a decision yet. I’m focusing on my club.”
Isidor’s journey with Sunderland has been marked by a strong rapport with fans and a promising start in the Premier League. While his dreams extend beyond the Stadium of Light, his current focus remains on contributing to Sunderland’s success. His potential move to Boca Juniors and international career decisions will undoubtedly be followed closely by fans and pundits alike.
