David Moyes
Crystal Palace have emerged as the only unbeaten team in the Premier League this season, boasting three wins and three draws from their opening six matches. Oliver Glasner’s side currently sits third in the league standings, trailing Arsenal by one point and defending champions Liverpool by three. Meanwhile, David Moyes faces a selection headache as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s suspension, due to a controversial fifth booking, forces him to make changes for the upcoming match.
David Moyes said: “I think it is something like 18 games. But it’s one of them, it’s about us again. It’s about what we can control. We can’t be worried about Palace, even though we know they are a great side. No side is rubbish in the Premier League. You don’t take any team lightly. It’s about us turning up. Kiernan is suspended, which is unfortunate, but I don’t know if that is a booking again. That’s two unlucky bookings, which has not been great for us, but it gives someone an opportunity to go and stake a claim to get in the team. Everyone’s got to train well. Show a bit of disappointment [after West Ham], but when you get the opportunity, go and grab it and be the difference for us.”
David Moyes continued: “We controlled most of the game, but we just couldn’t get that second goal. We kept penetrating, we just lacked a clear-cut chance that would have allowed us to grab the win. I don’t think we got that. We had a lot of the ball and they sat off, but it was just that clear chance we were missing. We defended well, we stayed quite solid and I’m disappointed we didn’t get the clean sheet.”
Moyes’ comments highlight the challenges his team faces, particularly in capitalizing on their possession and creating decisive opportunities. The absence of Dewsbury-Hall will be felt, but it also opens the door for other players to step up and make an impact. The manager emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and not underestimating any opponents in the league.
Crystal Palace’s unbeaten run is a testament to their resilience and tactical acumen under Glasner. Their ability to remain undefeated in a competitive league underscores their potential to challenge the top teams. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on whether Palace can maintain their momentum and secure a top position in the league.
Sky Sports has announced an increase in their live Premier League game coverage, with at least 215 matches to be broadcast this season, providing fans with more opportunities to follow the action.
