Diego Gomez
Brighton’s Diego Gomez is generating excitement as a potential breakout star in the Premier League. Known for his affable personality and modest demeanor, Gomez recently caught attention with a four-goal performance at Oakwell in the Carabao Cup. Despite his promising start, Gomez has yet to find a settled position at Brighton, but his recent form suggests he is ready to make his mark.
Fabian Hurzeler said: “Yes, maybe you don’t have that relationship. What you need to have at the beginning, but more and more he will adapt. I’m sure also to the journalists and to the media, it’s like the same how he was with us. It needs time. It needs time that he sees, ‘Oh, I can trust the people. I can speak to them. I can be open to them’. And that’s his personality, exactly like you described it, at the beginning. Very like shy, very like introverted, but the better the relationship gets, the more trust you can build to him, the more he opens and the more he speaks. And, of course, there’s a little bit of the language barrier. But, like I said, after the game against Barnsley, he tries to learn English every week. He’s improving quite fast. I think now he already understands my meeting in English, so he makes a big progress.”
Hurzeler continued: “When you ask him, ‘What is your favourite position?’, he answers you, I can play everywhere, because he has this ability that he’s good in every position. He’s very disciplined against the ball. He has a big danger when he attacks the opponents’ box. He has a good shot. He proved it in the last game. He can play in several positions. Of course, for us, it’s always to figure out where he can be the most effective, and then we have to make the right decision.”
Diego Gomez said: “This is my characteristic, to shoot from a long way out and fortunately they were fantastic goals. They both went in very well. Just before we had a shooting practice. I didn’t score too many in that but they went in during the match fortunately and I am really happy.”
Gomez’s ability to adapt to various roles on the pitch has been a significant asset for Brighton. His versatility allows him to contribute effectively in different positions, whether as a wide playmaker or supporting central midfielders. This adaptability, combined with his knack for scoring from distance, makes him a valuable player for the team.
As Gomez continues to develop his skills and build confidence, the anticipation around his potential impact at Stamford Bridge grows. His recent performances suggest that he is ready to take the next step and become a key figure in Brighton’s Premier League campaign.
