Aston Villa’s outstanding teenage prospect Stephen Froggatt may need surgery on the knee which had limited his appearances to just 16 that season.
Ron Atkinson said “Steve has a bone problem on the front of his knee and may need an operation at the end of the season. He won’t be able to train every day but he will work two or three times a week and then ease off before games.”
Froggatt who had returned to action after a 12 week lay off, was left out of the 3-1 victory over Sheffield United.
