Eric Cantona had pleaded with Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson not to follow the example set by Leeds United by dropping him.
Eric Cantona said “I want this team to win but not without me. A victory without me would be a hollow one. I leave a club when I need a change. It’s like being with a woman. If you get to the point when you’ve nothing left to say to her, you leave or else you stop being good. As soon as I start getting bored at a club I know something is wrong, it’s just the way I am. I think we have a good chance of winning the title. Its harder to win in England then anywhere else but we’ve certainly got what it takes.”
