Rob Edwards
Newly appointed Nottingham Forest manager Rob Edwards was preparing for his third match at the helm, aiming to secure the club’s first Premier League victory of the season. Edwards faced the task of integrating veteran full-back Krejci, who had been sidelined since October 18, back into the squad. The manager provided an update on the player’s fitness and the team’s preparations ahead of their clash.
Rob Edwards said: “Krejci was out on the grass today, but didn’t train with the group, so I don’t think he’ll be ready for tomorrow, but he was out there doing some running and doing some work with the S and Cs [strength and conditioning coaches] and the physios today, so we’re hoping he’s not far away. Doc trained with us today, so we’ll see. We’ll have a look because he’s been out for a little while, so whether he’s right to start right now, he might be in a position where he can be involved in the squad. Toti was a bit sore for a couple of days, but he’s been out there training today, so he’s fine, and Joao [Gomes] is ok. He’s good.”
Edwards also discussed the impact of Sean Dyche since his arrival at Nottingham Forest’s opponents, noting the team’s improved performance under his management.
Rob Edwards said: “Since Sean’s gone in, they’ve won half of their games, I think they’ve got four wins from eight, but that’s just what he does. They’re a really organised team, lots of good individuals, and a real clear way of playing, but that’s what Sean Dyche brings. He’s really good, and that’s what he’s done everywhere he’s been, so I’m not surprised at all. They’re very clear with what they do, they work extremely hard, and they’ve got loads of good players, so it’s going to be another really difficult game. Just because they’re in a bit of a difficult position, it perhaps doesn’t reflect the talent they’ve got and people might think looking at Forest that it’s an easy game, but it’s not an easy game.”
Edwards acknowledged the challenge posed by Dyche’s side, highlighting their organization and the individual talent within the team. Despite Forest’s current position near the relegation zone, Edwards emphasized that the match would not be straightforward. With players like Krejci nearing a return, Edwards is optimistic about his squad’s potential to compete effectively. The manager’s comments underscored the importance of preparation and resilience as Forest aims to navigate the challenges of the Premier League season.
