The Hill Dickinson Stadium in Merseyside has been selected as the venue for the 19th Super League Magic Weekend in 2025. This decision comes after the stadium’s successful hosting of the Ashes Test between England and Australia, which garnered positive feedback from players and officials alike. The event, which will feature a series of classic derby matches, is expected to attract fans from across the league to celebrate the sport in Everton’s new waterfront home.
Organizers said: “It’s a stunning stadium with outstanding facilities at all levels and also superbly located for summer on the waterfront, and with the many and varied attractions of Liverpool within easy reach. We’re looking forward to elevating our fan experience with a range of hospitality offers which proved so popular for the international, and the Plaza outside the stadium is perfect for Magic. We continue to work with the Dragons and Toulouse on the feasibility of delivering a very special event in France too, and we hope to be able to announce something in the near future on this.”
The Magic Weekend will kick off with York Knights making their debut against Huddersfield Giants, followed by a Saturday night clash between Leigh Leopards and Warrington Wolves. Sunday’s schedule will see Wakefield Trinity face Castleford Tigers. The event will culminate with the traditional blockbuster match between Wigan Warriors and St Helens.
An Everton spokesperson said: “Hosting a sell-out crowd for the first major non-football event in our new home was a landmark moment for the club and a powerful demonstration of what this stadium and our city can deliver.”
The Hill Dickinson Stadium, with its world-class facilities, offers superb sightlines and an expansive Budweiser Plaza, making it an ideal location for large-scale fan experiences. The choice of venue reflects the stadium’s capability to host significant events and its contribution to the local economy, similar to the impact seen at previous venues like St James’ Park and the Principality Stadium.
