Alex Scott
Alex Scott’s journey at Bournemouth has been marked by resilience and determination. The young midfielder experienced a disrupted start to his career at the club, with injuries sidelining him for significant periods. Despite these challenges, Scott has emerged stronger, becoming an integral part of Bournemouth’s squad this season.
Alex Scott said: “It was definitely difficult. Obviously, I had a great time at Bristol City where I suffered no injuries whatsoever. I played most of the games there. And then you finally get your dream move to the Premier League, and as soon as you go in, you’re out for two, three months. So that was tough to take. Since then, it’s been injury on injury, obviously the bad knee injury last year, and things were starting to look on the up and then I go and break my jaw in the last two games of the season. The injuries have been tough. I’ve had great people around me, obviously, my family being number one and all the staff at Bournemouth, my friends as well, just getting around me and making sure I’m okay at all times and pushing me, to be honest. The club were brilliant. Anyone there I could speak to if I was feeling down or not feeling great at all, so, yeah, they definitely helped there, but at times it was definitely tough. I’m just happy to be playing football again.”
Alex Scott continued: “I think after the last knee injury I had last season, I think I came back into the team and played five or six games in a row, because before that I was looking at it and I hadn’t started more than two games in a row. So I never really got into that rhythm of playing. I feel like when I overcame that injury and started playing a bit more, it was almost to prove to myself that I can do it at the top level.”
He added: “I came back to preseason and I wanted to fight for a start position, which I didn’t have too many opportunities last season to start games, and then, yeah, started the season pretty well.”
Scott’s determination and hard work have paid off, as he now enjoys a regular starting role at Bournemouth. His ability to bounce back from adversity and his contributions on the field have been crucial for the team. After a successful summer with England U21s, where he won the Euros, Scott has carried that momentum into the current season, demonstrating his potential and skill at the Premier League level.
