Jordan Chiedozies
Jordan Chiedozie, a former Bournemouth and Southend United player, faced a life-altering incident on February 1 when he was struck by a vehicle while attending to a punctured tyre on the M27’s hard shoulder. The collision led to the amputation of his leg, marking a significant turning point in his life. The driver, Anna Bogusiewicz, 45, is facing charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving, with her case scheduled for December 1 at Southampton Crown Court.
Jordan Chiedozie said: “I think you just have to [stay positive], you just have to get on with it. If you stay too much thinking of what happened and the past, I don’t think it helps with the recovery and being able to get as close as to normal as before, going forward.” He continued, “It takes time, but I’m getting there in terms of recovery – I’m getting better.”
Chiedozie added: “It’s hard to process – you are happy and blessed to be here, but you have still gone through serious injuries.” Reflecting on his recovery journey, he remarked: “It’s strange. I can’t dwell on it. I don’t know if it’s mental strength, but you just have to get on with it.”
Chiedozie’s determination to overcome his challenges is evident as he continues to adapt to his new reality. He has had to relearn basic tasks, including walking, which he describes as “frustrating.” Despite the difficulties, Chiedozie remains focused on his recovery and even plans to find a way to play golf again, demonstrating his resilience and positive outlook on life.
The incident has also given Chiedozie a new perspective on life, especially after drawing parallels to the tragic demise of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who were killed in a car crash in July. Chiedozie’s ability to maintain a positive mindset amidst adversity serves as an inspiration to many, highlighting the importance of resilience and mental strength in overcoming life’s challenges.
