Andoni Iraola
Bournemouth’s manager, Andoni Iraola, has expressed his satisfaction with the integration of the club’s new signings, who have significantly contributed to the team’s campaign this season. The recent transfer window saw the arrival of several key players, including goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, left back Adrien Truffert, centre back Bafode Diakite, right back Alex Jimenez, and forwards Ben Gannon-Doak, Amine Adli, and Junior Kroupi. Kroupi joined the team after signing in January and was loaned back to Lorient before returning.
Andoni Iraola said: “I’m very happy how the new players have understood the collective purpose of everything that we are doing. I think, even not just on the pitch, off the pitch, they understood very well how we want to train, how we want to live together. There are going to be mistakes from those players, from the other players. There are going to be ups and downs and this is still a work in progress. We’ve just started. We’ve started well, performance wise and points wise, but still there is no differences in the standings. Teams that are now near the bottom, they win two, three games and then they will be in the top half. So now it’s about building the team. I think we are in this process like everyone else and we still have work to do with these new players. I think we have to know them when they don’t play so well, when they make some mistakes and it is an adaptation process, a normal one.”
Iraola’s comments highlight the importance of both on-field and off-field integration for the new players. The manager acknowledged that while the team has made a promising start in terms of performance and points, the standings remain closely contested. He emphasized the necessity of patience and continued development, noting that even teams currently near the bottom of the table can quickly ascend with a few wins. Iraola stressed that understanding the players’ performance during challenging times is crucial to the adaptation process, underscoring the normalcy of ups and downs in the journey of team building.
The new signings have evidently embraced the club’s ethos and training philosophy, which bodes well for Bournemouth’s aspirations this season. As the team continues to gel, Iraola remains focused on fostering a cohesive unit capable of navigating the challenges of the Premier League.
