Dan Ndoye’s tenure at Nottingham Forest has been marked by significant changes and challenges since his arrival from Bologna in July. Initially joining under the management of Nuno Espirito Santo, Ndoye has had to navigate a managerial change just three games into the season, with Ange Postecoglou taking the helm. Despite a winless start to his tenure, Postecoglou is tasked with integrating several summer signings, including Ndoye, into the team and helping them adapt to the demands of the Premier League.
Ndoye said: “It took me a while to understand how things work here. I had another change of manager, which wasn’t easy. But I’ve worked hard to perform well and adapt to this new team and this new league. I’m getting better and better, and I think you can see that. I want to continue like this, performing well for my club and the national team.”
Ndoye added: “Football is truly lived here. Every action, every tackle, every shot, every dribble – you feel the stadium vibrating. It’s a very satisfying feeling.”
Ndoye further commented: “No, Nottingham isn’t Italy. But hey, it’s a new culture that I’m discovering and that I like. Even if I don’t have much time to visit in the end because it’s not that easy with all the games we have.”
Ndoye made an impressive start to his Forest career, scoring on his debut in a 3-1 victory over Brentford. However, the journey has not been entirely smooth for the Swiss international or the team. Despite starting all seven of Forest’s Premier League games, Ndoye acknowledges the challenges of adapting to a new environment, including a change in management and the cultural differences between Nottingham and Bologna.
The atmosphere at the City Ground has been a mixed bag, with fans expressing their dissatisfaction during a recent Europa League defeat to FC Midtjylland. Nonetheless, Ndoye has been buoyed by the passionate support, which he describes as a unique aspect of English football.
As Ndoye continues to settle into his new surroundings, he remains focused on improving his performance and contributing to both his club and national team. The 24-year-old is determined to overcome the initial hurdles and make a significant impact in the Premier League.
