Daniel Farke
Leeds United’s manager, Daniel Farke, was left frustrated following his team’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Saturday. The match saw Leeds concede a late equaliser due to a lapse in concentration in the 93rd minute, which allowed Eli Kroupi to score and deny the hosts a well-deserved win. Farke expressed pride in his team’s overall performance but lamented the critical switch-off in focus during the final moments of the game.
Daniel Farke said: “We gave a bit of an unnecessary set-piece away in a dangerous situation, and they were able to score out of this. [Bournemouth] tried to put pressure on us. We didn’t allow one chance out of the game [with] organisation, desire to block all the crosses.”
Farke added: “There was, in the 94th minute, a bit of an unnecessary, sloppy touch, and then we lost possession and gave a free kick. And perhaps we dropped a bit too deep.”
Despite the disappointment of conceding late, Farke was pleased with the point earned, which brought Leeds United to eight points after six games. The team has now scored in consecutive games for the first time this season, showing signs of improvement.
Farke explained: “It’s a valuable and a good point. Of course, if you concede that late and given should have deservedly won this game – it doesn’t feel great in the first instance. But from Monday on, we move on. We make sure that we deliver such a performance again.”
He added: “For me it’s never a foul at Premier League level. Without this we probably would have won this game. But we can’t influence the decisions.”
Leeds United will now turn their attention to their upcoming fixture against Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road, scheduled for next Saturday in a lunchtime kick-off. The team will be looking to build on their recent performances and secure a positive result against a strong opponent.
