• Mick Quinn was betting on Liverpool lifting the premier league – Literally
Mick Quinn was backing Liverpool to win the premier league and the Coventry striker admitted that he had put his money on the Merseyside club at 8-1 odds. Quinn was a scouser and lifelong Reds fan, he wanted nothing more than Liverpool to knock Manchester United off their championship throne unless his new side Convetry could do it. Quinn’s Coventry had just beaten Liverpool a week earlier in a match where Reds’ right-back Rob Jones was given a red card but the Blues striker believed that it was a one-off and Liverpool would at least finish in the top three that season.
Mick Quinn said “I’m a Liverpool supporter, I’ve seen a bit of them and I don’t think they are far away from being the Liverpool of old. I think they will definitely be in the top three or four. In fact, I have backed them at 8-1 each way for the title, along with ourselves at 150-1. And I always get a good run for my money. They are not very far off, if not champions, they would at least be in top two or three teams at the end of the season.”
