Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ramping up their efforts to secure the services of Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, with the club seemingly prepared to meet his £65 million release clause. The Ghanaian forward has been in scintillating form at the start of the 2025/26 season, contributing significantly to Bournemouth’s positive results. However, with a mid-season departure on the cards, Spurs are keen on bolstering their attacking options, while Arsenal appear to be out of the race due to their depth in wide areas.
Andoni Iraola said: “We are in November. Antoine [Semenyo] is our player, he will continue to be our player. In January, you can ask me about the market. But right now, I am not worried about the next market. I am not worried about the situation. In January, we will talk about whatever happened, the players we need.”
Antoine Semenyo told Sky Sports: “I don’t think about it too much. I try to stay present as much as I can. You see the news all the time, I see it as well, I’m not oblivious, but I try to keep focused. I’m enjoying my football here. If I’m not scoring goals, all of that goes away. I try to stay present, do the best I can for the team, score goals and whatever happens in the future happens.”
Semenyo’s impressive early-season performances included braces against Fulham and Liverpool, alongside key contributions in matches against Wolves, Brighton, and Leeds United. Despite a recent dip in form with five matches without a goal or assist, his potential move to Tottenham is seen as a strategic necessity for the North London club. Tottenham’s head coach, Thomas Frank, has been experimenting with various attacking setups, often lacking a natural left-winger, a void left by the departure of club legend Son Heung-min.
The potential acquisition of Semenyo is aimed at addressing this gap, providing the team with a balanced attacking threat. However, Tottenham face competition from Liverpool and Manchester City, who could influence Semenyo’s future. The player’s focus remains on his current performances, as he aims to maintain his form and contribute to Bournemouth’s success.
With the January transfer window approaching, Tottenham’s pursuit of Semenyo is expected to intensify, as they aim to strengthen their squad for the challenges ahead. The coming months will be crucial in determining whether Spurs can secure their target and how Semenyo’s career trajectory unfolds.
