Sean Dyche Burnley
Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche has expressed his dissatisfaction following the team’s 2-0 loss to Bournemouth, despite their recent Europa League victory over Porto. Dyche was particularly critical of Forest’s first-half performance, where they conceded twice, leaving themselves with a challenging deficit to overcome. As the team prepares for their upcoming match against Manchester United, Dyche has made it clear that rigorous training sessions lie ahead.
Sean Dyche said: “They have taken a lot on, we have crammed so many things into five days – no down days. They still won’t get that. There is still work to do be done and I am not going to start changing that because I said after Porto, I gave them a lot of credit. Today they didn’t have the same feel from the off – physically. A maximum looks after itself when you’re playing like we did the other night, you look after yourselves, but raising the minimum, what about a day when it’s not quite your day? What about doing all the ugly hard yards and all the details, and then you can get a result. That’s something that we’ve got to work on that mentality to do that, and they’ve done it last season. It’s not going back there because we’re a different group again and we’ve got injuries. But it’s reminding them that it’s something to build on because they were terrific last season. They’ve been terrific since I’ve been here, taking a lot of information on today, the first half has really, really hurt us. That’s a gripe of mine, but it’s a work in progress, that’s for sure. They’re going to have to work. I’ve already told them, I said ‘Look, there’s no respite’.”
Dyche’s comments underscore his commitment to instilling a robust work ethic and mentality within the squad. The manager emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards, even on days when the team might not be at their best. He acknowledged the progress made since his arrival but highlighted the need to continue building on last season’s successes, despite the current challenges posed by injuries and the evolving team dynamics.
The upcoming week promises to be intensive for Forest, with Dyche planning to utilize the training ground to address the issues seen in the Bournemouth match. While the players can anticipate a demanding schedule, Dyche hinted at a potential rest day midweek, contingent on the work put in during training. As Forest prepares to face Manchester United, the focus will be on refining their approach and ensuring they are ready to compete at the highest level.
