Tottenham Hotspur’s young forwards, Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert, are determined to secure starting positions in Thomas Frank’s lineup. Despite facing challenges since joining Spurs, both players have demonstrated their potential and resilience, making them valuable assets for the club’s future.
Thomas Frank said: “What I’m convinced about is that Tottenham have two very good players that I am very convinced will be very good for us over the next few years.”
Tel, who faced a setback earlier in the season when he was omitted from the club’s Champions League squad, has shown remarkable resilience. He made a significant impact by scoring the opening goal in Tottenham’s recent 2-1 Premier League victory against Leeds United. Frank expressed his admiration for Tel’s character and dedication, highlighting the young forward’s impressive progress.
Frank said after the game: “So I’m almost emotional about him. I’m so happy for him, I think the character he’s shown from a young man just really impressed me from day one. Maybe playing a good position where I really can see him play and I think he’s taking steps. So just keep training well, which he does. He trains well every day. He stayed at home when the whole team went to Bodo and he trained well.”
Odobert, on the other hand, has been included in Tottenham’s Champions League squad and has primarily featured from the bench. He showcased his talent by scoring a brace in each U21 European Championships qualifier and assisting Tel in a dominant 6-1 victory over Estonia. While Odobert has predominantly played on the left wing, his versatility allows him to operate effectively from the right flank as well.
The competition for starting roles at Tottenham remains fierce, particularly on the left flank, where Odobert is vying for a spot. With Mohammed Kudus securing the right wing position, the left side remains open for competition. Both Tel and Odobert are eager to seize this opportunity and solidify their places in the team.
As the season progresses, Tottenham fans will be keen to see how these promising young talents develop under Frank’s guidance. Their performances will be crucial in determining their long-term roles within the squad, as they aim to make a significant impact in north London.
