Bruno Fernandes
Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United’s talisman, faced another setback after missing a crucial penalty in their recent defeat to Brentford. This marked his second miss from the spot this season, highlighting the ongoing struggles for the Reds. Despite his pivotal role in previous seasons, Fernandes has found it challenging to lift United from their slow start, with the team languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, accumulating only seven points from six matches. While Fernandes has been on the scoresheet in United’s two victories this season, including a penalty against Burnley and a dramatic win over Chelsea, the team continues to struggle with finding the net consistently.
Bryan Mbeumo said: “It’s important to support him because this is what he’s doing every time. I think it’s normal for us to carry him as well sometimes because he gives us a lot, and it’s good for him to have us as well.”
Mbeumo continued: “I think everyone in the team needs to take responsibility. When you play in a club this big, everyone needs to know what to do – as a team, we need to do better.”
Mbeumo added: “It’s exciting, because we get to learn to play with new players and it’s always challenging, but that’s what we like as footballers. Of course it will improve, we haven’t played a lot together, so there are certain things that we’re going to improve, and there are different types of players, but it’s good to be with them.”
Mbeumo, who joined Manchester United from Brentford in a £71 million move, emphasized the importance of the entire squad taking ownership of their performance. The Cameroon international, alongside new forwards Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha, is optimistic about turning the team’s fortunes around. United’s significant investment of £200 million in their strike force reflects the club’s ambition to rejuvenate their attacking prowess. Mbeumo’s comments underline the need for collective responsibility and the importance of adapting to new teammates to achieve success. As the team continues to gel, there is hope that their performances will improve, allowing them to climb the Premier League table.
