#PLHistory #premierleaguestories on Feb 2 1993 – Arsenal buy #MartinKeown back for ten times the price they let him go for

Martin Keown

In surprise news that shocked everyone in the game, Arsenal had resigned Everton’s Martin Keown for £2 million, ten times the prize that they had let him go for six years ago. Oxford-born, 26 years old had left the Gunners back in 1986 because he wanted £50 more than what George Graham had offered him back then.

He moved to Villa for £200000 and then was sold to Everton three years later for £750000. He admitted on his return that it was “crazy” of him to have left for such a small amount back then “It seemed crazy that they wouldn’t agree and although I didn’t want to leave and Arsenal didn’t want to let me go. I had to go as a matter of principle.”
