AFC Bournemouth Clinch Deserved Victory Over Leicester City

Andoni Iraola

AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola expressed his satisfaction following his team’s impressive win against Leicester City. The match saw Bournemouth dominate the field, creating numerous scoring opportunities that ultimately led to a well-earned victory. Iraola highlighted the team’s collective effort in scoring, which marked a departure from previous seasons where individual players were the primary goal scorers.

Andoni Iraola said: “I think I liked the game today. It has cost us to score the first one, but I think we were pushing a lot, having a lot of chances. We scored and they disallowed that goal. Antoine Semenyo scored, Evanilson scored, Justin scored, Dango scored, above 10, around 10 goals. It has been different from past season where Dom Solanke was the main reference. This season, we scored more goals, but they have been like between more players.”

Iraola continued: “I was happy with the performance in the first half, especially first half an hour I think has been really good. I remember the free kick, Eva’s chance was not offside, they called offside, it wasn’t. You never know, always. It can be one of those days where it never goes to your side.”

He further added: “His second was a brilliant strike from just outside the box into the bottom corner, but the first goal was exactly what was needed to break the game open. At the end, we’ve had a lot of set plays this season. We created a lot of corners. And obviously the second one is nicer to score probably you would prefer the second one. But the first one was the key of the game.”

Bournemouth’s performance was characterized by a relentless offensive strategy, which saw multiple players contributing to the scoreboard. This shift in dynamics from relying heavily on Dom Solanke to a more distributed scoring approach has been a significant factor in their recent successes. Iraola’s tactical adjustments have allowed the team to capitalize on set plays and create scoring opportunities from various positions on the field. The manager’s remarks reflect his contentment with the team’s adaptability and collective effort, which were instrumental in securing the win against Leicester City.
