Amad, the talented Manchester United winger, faced a setback earlier this year when he suffered an ankle injury during training, sidelining him for several weeks. The injury occurred just before United’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur, a blow to the team as Amad was in excellent form at the time. The Ivory Coast international expressed his disappointment, stating his intention to support his teammates from the sidelines during this crucial period.
Amad wrote, “Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season. Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury. Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for.”
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim initially feared that Amad might miss the remainder of the season. However, by April, Amorim provided a more optimistic update, hinting at Amad’s potential return before the season’s end.
Amorim said, “He’s doing quite well. We hope to have him before the season is finished. We’ll see, but he’s anxious to play, so we are waiting for him.”
Amad’s progress was further suggested by a cryptic Instagram post, hinting at his recovery. The post featured a photo from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, recalling his impressive performance in the Carabao Cup quarterfinal against Spurs, where he scored and assisted despite United’s 4-3 defeat.
In January, Amad secured a new long-term contract with Manchester United, extending his stay until June 2030. Amorim emphasized the increased expectations and responsibilities that come with this commitment.
Amorim stated, “That is really clear. And we are going to be more demanding with Amad. He knows what we want to expect from him. Now he has a bigger responsibility because he has a long contract with a big club, so we’re going to be really demanding with him.”
Amad responded to his manager’s challenge by scoring a hat-trick against Southampton, becoming the first United player since Cristiano Ronaldo in April 2022 to achieve this feat.
Amorim praised, “I will tell tomorrow he has to rest, eat good food, prepare for Sunday, we need him again. He did a great job, is a great moment for a young kid to score a hat-trick for a club like this. But he needs to focus on the next match – this is already in the past – and prepare for the next game.”
As Amad continues his recovery, Manchester United fans eagerly await his return to the pitch, hoping he can contribute to the team’s success in the remaining fixtures of the 2024-2025 season.
