Kevin De Bruyne, the celebrated Belgian midfielder, confirmed his departure from Manchester City at the end of the current season, leaving top Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea on alert. De Bruyne’s contract with City is set to expire, allowing him to leave on a free transfer after a remarkable career at the Etihad Stadium.

During his tenure with Manchester City, De Bruyne made 416 appearances, scoring 107 goals and providing 177 assists. His contributions helped the club secure six Premier League titles, the Champions League, a Club World Cup, two FA Cups, and five Carabao Cups. Notably, De Bruyne faced Arsenal 22 times, winning 14 of those encounters, scoring eight goals, and providing five assists.

Kevin De Bruyne said: “There was a little bit (of shock). I didn’t have any offer from them through the whole year and the club made a decision. Obviously, I was a bit surprised but I have to accept it. I don’t feel awkward. I told them (Begiristain and Soriano) that I feel like I still have a lot to give. I know I’m not 25 anymore, but I still feel like I can do my job.”

De Bruyne’s revelation about his departure came as a surprise to many, considering his pivotal role in Manchester City’s success over the years. Despite the club’s decision not to extend his contract, the 33-year-old remains optimistic about his future prospects.

Kevin De Bruyne continued: “I’m looking at sporting reasons, family and everything together and what makes the most sense for me and my family.”

As the season progresses, speculation about De Bruyne’s next destination is likely to intensify. Arsenal and Chelsea, both keen on bolstering their midfield options, are expected to closely monitor his situation. De Bruyne’s experience and skill set make him a valuable asset for any top club, and his availability on a free transfer adds to his appeal.

The football world will be watching closely as De Bruyne evaluates his options, considering both sporting and personal factors in his decision-making process. His departure marks the end of an era at Manchester City, where he has been a linchpin in their midfield and a fan favorite.
