Jacob Mazionis, an emerging talent from Ipswich Town, joins Woking on Loan

Ipswich Town

Jacob Mazionis, an emerging talent from Ipswich Town, embarked on his first loan move to Woking Football Club, aiming to gain crucial senior experience. The 18-year-old centre back, who has previously been part of West Ham United and Arsenal, as well as Enfield Borough, is set to bolster Woking’s defense for the rest of the season.

Woking Football Club said: “The 18-year-old centre back joins on loan from @IpswichTown until the end of the season.”

Mazionis, a Lithuanian youth international, has been a standout performer for Ipswich’s youth setup. His temporary move to Woking, who currently sit 17th in the fifth tier, marks a significant step in his development journey. The loan deal was announced by Woking Football Club on January 13, 2025.

Jody Brown, the Cards’ director of football, elaborated on the club’s decision to bring in Mazionis on a loan rather than a permanent transfer.

Jody Brown said: “We thought long and hard about bringing someone in on a permanent deal, but when we analysed the market we just didn’t feel we could get the right one. We worked closely with Ipswich to make it work, they have a lot of belief in Jacob, and we are excited to play a part in his development. The priority with our recruitment has to be us – and the entire football department feel Jacob will be an asset for the remainder of the season.”

Mazionis is expected to make his debut for Woking when they face Ebbsfleet United this weekend. His addition to the squad is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the team’s defense as they aim to climb the league table.
