Rob Holding advises Arsenal teammates on where to improve ?

[hr]

Arsenal defender Rob Holding has asked his team mates to keep confidence in their ability and that will help in turning around their faltering Premier League form. Arsenal have great chance to kick start their season when they host 19th placed Southampton  followed by bottom placed Norwich City week after.

Rob Holding said “We just need to string a couple of wins together and I think that will lift the confidence again and hopefully set us off on a run.We just need to stay calm and stay positive. We’re sixth, we’re not a million miles off it. We’re going into a busy Christmas period now where there’s going to be three Premier League games a week. We’re eight points off the top four but if we have three wins in a week we’re back up within touching distance so it’s not crisis point by any stretch of the imagination. We need to keep calm, keep positive and keep working on what we need to improve on.”

Premier League Museum Editor Notes: Rob Holding was one of last few purchases by Arsene Wenger before leaving the club. Holding joined Gunners on a long-term deal from Bolton in 2016/2017 season start with almost a  meteoric rise in his professional career. Unfortunately for Holding, he could not give a decent run at the defense as his career at Arsenal was plagued by injuries. However, it should be a no brainer for Unai Emery to realize that Arsenal’s best centre-back is Rob Holding and Emery needs to put the player at the  heart of the defense. Sokratis and David Luiz may have years of experience on the 24-year-old, but they cannot offer the same calming influence that Rob Holding provides.

How Crystal Palace can upset odds by beating Liverpool ?

[hr]

Andros Townsend believes that  Crystal Palace may be underdogs but if past meetings are to be considered, Eagles can definitely  pull off an upset. Townsend has analyzed the game Liverpool played against Manchester City and also other previous opponents during their unbeaten run in 2019/2020 premier league season.

Andros Townsend said “Liverpool makes a conscious effort the first 15 minutes of each half to go full throttle to see, do you want it, do you still want to play? Are you going to still try to play or are you going to just kick it behind? They even did that against Man City. Obviously you approach the games differently, you know you’re not going to get the ball much, you know you have to defend for 90 minutes. Frustrate first, attack second. Even as a winger you need to be a defender first and then counter-attack. It’s going to be difficult, but if you defend well and take your chances you can definitely pull a shock, which we’ve proven we can do.”

Premier League Museum Editor Notes: Defending against Liverpool’s attacking juggernaut has been a nightmare for almost every team so far in the season. While on paper its clear that Liverpool take the attack to opposition teams, it’s their relentless shots on goal that ensure opposite sides are parked in their shell which eventually leads to goals early in the game. Frustrate first, attack second. It’s not exactly giving away state secrets for Crystal Palace’s approach as every team so far has tried doing it.  The question, as it often is, will Crystal Palace players be able to do execution. Palace’s defensive performance on the field and their ability to capitalize on what few chances they do get on the counter versus Liverpool’s execution in possession as they try to break down a stubborn defence will be key for the encounter over the weekend.

Why Chris Wood left national commitments  early ?

[hr]

Chris Wood returned to Turf Moor early from international duty with New Zealand. The Burnley striker has only recently returned from a hamstring injury and pulled out of a training session with his national side earlier this week as a precaution. Chris Wood took the decision after seeing his club getting an uplifted performance and better form in last few matches.

New Zealand coach Danny Hay said “The game’s we play are on artificial turf, so that’s why we don’t want to risk Winston Reid, Chris Wood and Ryan Thomas with what they’ve been through recently.

On club’s recent uptick in form, Chris Wood said  “It was a pretty good performance from the team. It was nice to bounce back like that. We needed to and now we put our front foot forward. We know we can do it, we know we’re a good side and we know we can put a performance together and we showed that. I think Ashley Barnes and I have clicked very well. We have been together ever since our days at Brighton and it was nice to be back on the field with him.

Premier League Museum Editor Notes: The 27-year-old Burnley striker  Chris Wood, signed a new Turf contract last week and has scored  five goals in his last five Premier League games for the Clarets. Woods  plays on the shoulder of the last defender and constantly pulls defenders around with his movement. His offside record is something to poke fun at it but it further highlights his willingness to play as far forward as possible and stretch defenses. That allows space for his striking partner Ashley Barnes. With Burnley one of the few Premier League sides playing with a front two, the duo cause problems for the majority of backlines they come up against.
