Three Watford players have signed temporary contract extensions with the club to keep them here at least until the end of the season. The contracts of Jose Holebas, Adrian Mariappa and Heurelho Gomes were all due to expire on June 30 this year, but they have agreed a short-term deal with the club to keep them at Vicarage Road until the 2019/20 season is concluded.

FIFA approved the extension of any contracts to cover the rest of the current campaign, after football was postponed globally due to the coronavirus outbreak. After confirming a new two-year deal for goalkeeper Ben Foster yesterday, the club today confirmed the deals with the three players and said that talks regarding their longer term futures were ongoing.

Watford club statement: “The three other players whose Watford deals expire this summer – José Holebas, Heurelho Gomes and Adrian Mariappa – have each agreed the Fifa-approved contract extensions to cover the delayed finish to the 2019/20 campaign. Individual talks continue between the trio and the Hornets with regards to their respective Vicarage Road futures.”
