#PremierLeagueStories – #SeanLongstaff talks about how crucial Newcastle United’s fans are to the team’s perfomances #NUFC

Sean Longstaff is hoping that Newcastle United can have fans cheering on their sofa during the Premier League’s fan lockout. Longstaff knows that Newcastle will have to dig deep to achieve something special this term and that too without their fans. There were 5,000 fans at West Bromwich Albion in the last round of the cup and United are used to crowds of 50,000 home fans getting behind the team.

Sean Longstaff said “It’s going to weird. But I suppose it will be the norm for a while now. It’s now up to us to get ourselves motivated without the help of the crowd. Everybody is looking forward to getting back to football and we know our fans will be cheering from home. Hopefully, we can give them something to cheer about on the settee. Once you get back on the pitch the competitiveness comes back, it’s hard to stop really. We’re still allowed to tackle people and it’s part of the game. It always will be – so as long as you aren’t too stupid with it I don’t think it’s something you can complain about. As long as we stick to the measures everything is fine and we can concentrate on playing football. To be honest we have been champing at the bit to get back. After three or four days we were looking at our phones and wondering when we could come back. Luckily everybody is in really good shape. Everybody came back really fit and it’s been brilliant. We look forward to the games and we’re desperate for it to come back around.”
