Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has addressed Dele Alli’s situation at the club, while comparing the midfielder to Brazilian great Ronaldinho. Alli was an integral part of Pochettino’s side in north London, signing from MK Dons to become a stand-out star for both club and country. However, he has seen his opportunities at Spurs decrease significantly since Jose Mourinho took the reigns at the club, sparking suggestions of an exit. The 24-year-old has made just two Premier League appearances so far this season, being hauled off at half-time in the defeat to Everton on the opening weekend and coming off the bench against Manchester United. Alli has not played in the league since the last international break and Pochettino has shared his view on the situation while identifying a similarity he has with Ronaldinho.

Mauricio Pochettino said “I don’t want to talk about the situation, as it’s disrespectful. It’s not anymore my responsibility, and of course, you need to respect that, Dele was an amazing player for us when he arrived from MK Dons. The hunger and energy he had, it was amazing how he played, he was an amazing talent. He’s still young, but we enjoyed it a lot together. I hope everything is going well for everyone (at Spurs), but my feelings are all the best for him and all of the players. I don’t want to talk too much, but when he came to Tottenham, with this (celebrations). My kid loved him like he was Ronaldinho. Kids feel the charisma, the energy, and Dele Alli had the same that kids love and follow. Of course, they’re different players.”
