Matt Targett plays a key role for Aston Villa

Since Villa’s Carabao Cup win against Brighton a month ago,  Jack Grealish has stepped it up a notch, rapidly becoming the Premier League’s new darling while dominating radios shows, web page headlines and, more pressingly, games at Villa Park and on the road. For Grealish’s brilliance, there is a hidden player whose playing-style  and close friendship has helped a lot. We are talking about Matt Targett.

The brace-wearing left-back – affectionately known as Tiggs – has been a revelation since shaking off two separate hamstring strains, helping Villa to become an entirely different – and dangerous – beast in attack. The 24-year-old put in two on-the-money crosses against Brighton, registered a passing accuracy of 81 per cent compared to Freddie Guilbert’s score of 68 while, surprisingly, also won all three of his aerial duals vs Graham Potter’s Seagulls. Also, his running off the ball that often goes unnoticed, allowing Grealish to cause absolute mayhem for the opposition. A willing runner, Targett bombs on and becomes a viable left-wing option for Smith’s side at times, such is Targett’s desire to get forward and hurt opponents. He gives rival full-backs something to think about, thus allowing the Villa captain to drift inside and take up a position in and around the striker.

Premier League Museum Editor Notes: Matt Targett is clearly in form and giving Dean Smith a selection headache to choose between Neil Taylor and himself. Currently PREMIER LEAGUE FANS want to see more of Tiggs as Aston Villa comes up against giants Manchester City and Liverpool over the next few fixtures.

How Newcastle can improve upfront in attack?

Newcastle United’s issues in front of goal this season are well documented – only five goals scored and 81 shots so far. So the big question is what are the ways in which Newcastle can score more goals this season.

Option 1  – Andy Carroll has shown in limited minutes this season his ability to spilt defences with his movement – running diagonally or down the flanks, while Joelinton is tending to drop deeper or stay central.

Option 2 – It would appear Wolves’ biggest weakness is when the ball is put over the top or slipped through to an on running forward man –  which could suggest that Dwight Gayle is the right fit for Sunday.

Option 3 – Joelinton has scored just one Premier League goal for Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United – but he needs service. Newcastle are lacking creativity and cutting edge that Atsu, Almiron and co seem incapable of providing and hence its difficult pointing to Joelinton. While it would be unfair on coach to rely on Victor Fernandez who has never made a senior appearance,  Newcastle might just have a player capable of giving Joelinton the service he’s craving.

Premier League Museum Editor Notes: PREMIER LEAGUE FANS of Newcastle should hail the fixtures list for magpies. This weekend could prove a turning point for Steve Bruce’s forward line as they play against an inconsistent Wolves, who showed against Southampton that they are vulnerable at the back. If Steve Bruce chooses the right option, this could be a springboard that the club and fans are desperately seeking for doing well this season in English Premier League.

Brighton injured player José Izquierdo

If anyone asks who is Seagull’s player Jose Izquierdo,  no prizes if you couldn’t get it . Brighton forward José Izquierdo has been ‘patiently trying’ to make his return for the club as soon as possible. He has endured a difficult second season with the Seagulls previous  year, with an injury-ravaged campaign restricting to just 18 appearances in all competitions and less than 1000 minutes of football.

Majority of player’s problems were because of a knee cartilage injury picked up during the 2018 World Cup, an injury that required surgery at the time and ruled him out of the beginning of the campaign. He then suffered a tear in the same knee back in December, an injury which subsequently ruled him out for a further two months of the season. A return in February was hardly a successful one, with him deciding in the summer that surgery was required on the problem again. hat’s seen him miss the beginning of the season once again, and he’s keen to get back as soon as possible to work under new manager Graham Potter.

Premier League Museum Editor Notes: José Heriberto Izquierdo Mena is a Colombian professional footballer. PREMIER LEAGUE FANS have been unlucky to not see the best of many talented footballers like Owen Hargreaves, Santi Cazolla etc. We hope Jose can make a comeback soon and show his talent ( video below).

Nicolas Otamendi was playing matches  with injury

With Aymeric Laporte and John Stones injured before the international break, the Argentine formed an unlikely partnership with Fernandinho in the centre of defence. Despite a clean sheet against Dinamo Zagreb, Manchester City were stunned by Wolves to fall eight points that weekend behind Liverpool at the top of the Premier League with Otamendi in particular coming in for criticism for his performance.

Otamendi has now clarified “I had a small injury after playing Everton and I kept on playing in the following games. Then I had to stop to recover, but now I’m available. Coach has praised the ability to play through injuries, but I was forced to do be out at Selhurst Park after a back problem took its toll”.

Premier League Museum Editor Notes:  PREMIER LEAGUE FANS believe despite Vincent Company leaving, Otamendi has not done enough to deserve a place or earn the trust of the manager, club and its fans. He certainly needs to show more concentration, presence and football acumen to be successful in the league.
