Unai Emery must qualify for the Champions League
Arsenal boss Unai Emery has been told it’s Champions League or bust this season. The Gunners finished fifth in the Spaniard’s debut campaign at the Emirates last term after a run of just eight points in their final seven matches in the Premier League. They also reached the Europa League Final, only to be thrashed in Baku by an Eden Hazard-inspired Chelsea .
Head of football Raul Sanllehi has made it clear that Emery is expected to deliver Champions League football for 2020-21. “We said to Unai that we just missed out on qualifying for the Champions League last year. But this year, with a stronger squad, we expect you to do that.”
This summer saw Emery freshen up his squad with the £72million arrival of Nicolas Pepe, defensive duo Kieran Tierney and David Luiz, young striker Gabriel Martinelli and Spain international Dani Ceballos – who arrived on loan from Real Madrid.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp scooped the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award for September. Liverpool beat Newcastle, Chelsea and Sheffield United, scoring six goals and conceding just two, to move to eight straight victories.The Reds are the only team with a 100 per cent win record in this season’s top flight, and Klopp has now won the top award for two months in a row.
If the German is to make it three in a row for this campaign, Liverpool will have to follow up their victory over Leicester with impressive showings against Manchester United after international break and Tottenham – arguably their toughest tests yet.

18 months ago Chelsea were revealed as the most hated club in the Premier League. For a team associated with John Terry, Russian money and hooliganism – even the most disillusion Blues fan wouldn’t have been surprised to hear that. However, with Frank Lamaprd at the helm and with a transfer ban, the club’s philosophy has changed… and so has the opinion of the public.
There were easy reasons to dislike the team – Winning dirty, Jose called Arsene Wenger a specialist in failure, Ashley Cole shot a kid on work experience and John Terry’s list of controversies are a little too long to list. Even their golden boy, Eden Hazard, kicked a young ball boy in Swansea. Chelsea and the word ‘classless’ have seemed to walk hand in hand over the years.
Frank Lampard is a likable manager who has installed a new approach to life. Chelsea have been playing fast, exciting football with goals guaranteed when watching them this season. A lot were quick to write Lampard’s team off after the game in Manchester but he has got the young guns firing, winning their last four in all competitions, scoring 15 in those games.
With the villains of yesteryear now elsewhere, Chelsea are re-establishing themselves under a whole new image.

Southampton winger Moussa Djenepo has won the Premier League Goal of the Month award for September. His solo strike in the Saints’ 1-0 win over Sheffield United on September 14 beat off competition from Jetro Willems, Fikayo Tomori, Jeff Hendrick, James Maddison, Aaron Cresswell, Trent Alexander-Arnold and N’Golo Kante.
Unfortunately, Djenepo is currently suffering from a muscle injury in his upper leg and he is return date is yet to be known.
