Adama Traore is one of the most exciting players in the Premier League when he is in full flight but mystery has surrounded his use of baby oil on his arms. Nuno says the idea came from the club’s medical department following a shoulder injury he once sustained when a defender grabbed his arm.

Nuno Espirito Santo said: “It was not my idea but it’s a good idea. Definitely, yes (it helps him). We felt the difference. It’s hard to stop Adama – and he becomes more slippery. I thought honestly it was a fantastic idea by the medical department who suggested that. It came from an injury he had on his shoulder which came from an opponent holding his arm. It became an option to avoid it and he kept on doing it.”

Nuno will hope Traore can produce a stellar performance in midweek when Wolves face Manchester City who won their 20th game in a row at the weekend. City boss Pep Guardiola says his players can expect to suffer against Wolves despite their amazing run.

Pep Guardiola said: “It is so difficult. To have 20 wins in this period, I think this could be the greatest achievement we have done. It doesn’t mean we have won the title of course, but in winter time in England, every three days a game, COVID-19 situation, injuries… winning, winning, winning shows strength, mentally. Teams create problems for us. Mentally it’s tough because we play many games every three days. People start to be tired. We play Tuesday and then we will have two days off before United to have a rest from each other. We must rest mentally and physically. If not, you cannot sustain it, but the big teams have to do it. From tomorrow, we look to Wolves and in past years we suffered against them.”
