Leeds United may be facing a battle to stay in the Premier League, but USA star Tyler Adams made sure he put smiles on plenty of faces after visitiing Penny Field School this week. The stylish midfielder can only watch on from the sidelines as his team-mates fight for their top-flight future after picking up a hamstring injury which ended his season early. Leeds have missed the US international on the field, but off it, he has continued to play a big role at the club. And that extended to this week’s school visit where he learned about their work with the Leeds United foundation. The school has students from the age of two through to 19, with severe of complex needs, and Adams was delighted to able to put a few smiles on faces.

Tyler Adams said: “Being able to connect with these kids on a personal level is always the most important thing, and just one interaction can change a kid’s life. So having that opportunity to come here today, it’s something I’ve done in the past in the States, but now doing it as a Leeds United player is special. Smiles on faces, good weather – that’s an amazing thing to be able to go outside and spend some time with the kids – there is never enough time that you could spend with them to make a difference in their lives.”

Leeds United Foundation’s wellbeing lead Simon Wood was delighted with Adams’ visit,

Tyler Adams added: “When we are able to have player visits, especially to programmes like this one, and the players are able to see some of the work the Foundation are doing in the community it’s really great for us, but then also for the beneficiaries and participants that we work with getting the opportunity to meet with the likes of Tyler, have photos with him and Tyler to take his time to just speak with them is just brilliant, and I think friends for life have been made today.”
