Stuart Pearce has confirmed that West Ham manager David Moyes has agreed in principle a new three-year deal at the club, but has not yet put pen to paper on the contract. The West Ham coach revealed that the Hammers have made him an offer to stay on as part of Moyes’ backroom team but Pearce is yet to commit.

Stuart Pearce said: “Until David agrees his contract, it’s folly for me to make any sort of movements towards signing a new contract at the club. The club have made me an offer which I am very grateful for, but I have not spoken to them in regard to agreeing a contract because my allegiance is with David in many ways as he was the one who brought me to the club.”

Speaking before the end of the season Moyes confirmed he was close to agreeing a new deal at the club but while the league campaign was reaching a crescendo he did not want to be distracted by anything.

David Moyes said: “We’re pretty well down the line with my contract and I hope that we’ll get something confirmed. It is more likely to be after the end of the season before we do anything. We don’t really want anything to get in the way of what we’re doing just now.”

Moyes provided the last update on his contract in mid-May, with the season finishing over two weeks ago and the Hammers preparing for a European campaign next term, question marks are beginning to arise as to why the deal is not yet done.
