Arsenal’s search for a new keeper could see them return to their Aaron Ramsdale interest after suffering a double transfer blow. The Gunners have been sent packing by Premier League Watford after making an inquiry for their keeper Daniel Bachmann. The Hornets have told the north London club that he is not for sale after he played a key part in their return to the top flight. And in a further setback, Ajax’s Andre Onana, one of their original targets, is on the verge of a move to France, with L’Equipe reporting he has agreed a move to Lyon. So far, it seems Mikel Arteta’s search for serious competition to their number one Bernd Leno is proving fruitless. The latest frustration could see them pick up the phone to Sheffield United once more, but if they do, United’s hand at the negotiating table has been strengthened further this week. Slavisa Jokanovic revealed after the midweek friendly against Doncaster that he would be ‘hurt’ if the keeper left, admitting that Ramsdale has not had his head turned by reports of Arsenal’s interest.

Slavisa Jokanovic said: “If you ask me if I will sell, no. I will be hurt if they leave my team. I understand this possibility exists but I hope that will not happen. I am not worried, I am happy with them (Ramsdale and Berge) and I trust they will stay with me and I trust they can be happy working with me and their Sheffield United team-mates.”

With Jokanovic keen to hold on to the 23-year-old and with the admission Ramsdale is not seeking a move, United now hold even more aces.
