Sunday will mark Nuno Esprito Santo’s first return to Molineux since leaving in May – but there’s a more emotional comeback on the minds of Wolverhampton Wanderers fans. For the first time since November 23, 2020 Raul Jimenez will take to the field in front of a packed out Molineux to play a Premier League game. The striker has made his long-awaited return to action during pre-season and led the line for Wolves in their 1-0 defeat at Leicester City on Saturday.

Raul Jimenez said: “It’s going to be good (to face Nuno). He has been really supportive too during the past months. I saw him maybe three weeks ago here in Wolverhampton. He told me he was really happy to see me playing again. He would have liked me to be back again with him! He told me he wanted it last season but he had to be with the doctors, the same as me. It wasn’t the moment. Last season he told me, ‘I’d be really happy to see you back on the bench at least for the last game, but now you are playing that’s really good’.”

Jimenez scored 48 goals in 110 games under Nuno at Wolves and he’s finished top scorer in each of his two full seasons with the club to date.
