Pierre Emile Hojbjerg has again described Tottenham’s performance as “unacceptable” as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side suffered another defeat in the Premier League. In his post match press conference, the Portuguese head coach highlighted some of the issues his side faced at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Nuno Espírito Santo said: “It’s hard to explain. We are better than we showed [against Manchester United]. We should do better in certain situations. I truly believe we have the talent to do it but when things don’t work out, the confidence is one of the first things to go,” he said.

Yet again a number of Spurs players produced a poor performance against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side as they rarely looked like scoring, even after conceding. Hojbjerg also commented on this in his post match interview with Stadium Astro.

Pierre Emile Hojbjerg said: “There was a lack of determination, maybe a lack of character and to show up like this at home, is of course unacceptable. It’s difficult to say more and I have to be careful as well. You can put my cleaning lady as a coach, I will give my all and it should be the same for everyone. You’re playing for this stadium, for this club so not giving enough shouldn’t be even a question. Maybe it was the case but shouldn’t be the question.”

Harry Kane has struggled to find his form this season and has only scored one goal in the league so far. Heung-min Son has been one of only a few players impress at times, but in recent weeks he has struggled to make as much of an impact as usual. Kane and Son broke the record earlier this year for the most combination goals in a season but have failed create those same link-ups so far this campaign. When asked what was going wrong with the duo who haven’t made as much of an impact as last season,

Pierre Emile Hojbjerg said: “I can’t speak on other players’ behalf. I speak on my own behalf and I speak on the team as a group and I don’t think what is happening is acceptable.”

A number of things need to change for Tottenham for them to get back on track and although it is positive that the Dane can see what is going wrong, it will take a lot more than his honesty to get Spurs back to winning ways.
