Pep Guardiola congratulated his Manchester City players on setting up a ‘final’ against Arsenal.

A 3-1 victory over Leicester moved the Blues to within three points of the Premier League leaders with eight matches to play. While Mikel Arteta’s side could be nine points clear by the time they meet City at the end of the month given their extra fixtures, the league title is still in the hands of the defending champions.

Guardiola might have been worried by a nervy 20 minutes after making five substitutions against Leicester, and admitted he may have tried to do too much. However, with the job done City can look ahead as they go for glory in three competitions.

Pep Guardiola said: “Win, win, win. Arsenal have done an incredible run so far and I don’t think they’re going to drop many points. What you have to do is be there. It’s important to us winning today for the final that we have against them in the next Premier League game. I would say it’s a final to play more finals because if you lose this game it will be almost over. It’s important to arrive in this position. We spoke a month ago that hopefully we can arrive at Arsenal having the chance to be close to them. We want this opportunity knowing how difficult it will be but before then we have the Champions League semi final and FA Cup semi-final.”
