Pep Guardiola admits Manchester City must win the Champions League if his team is to go down as one of the best in history like their big rivals Liverpool and Manchester United. Speaking after City lifted the Premier League title following a 1-0 home win over Chelsea,

Pep Guardiola said: “We have to win Europe to be remembered, but I don’t have the feeling just in case we are not able to win it, the Premier League makes sense too.  Of course as a club you get another level, that’s for sure. You have to admit it. You have to win Europe – Champions League – to be considered one of the best teams like Roy Keane’s Manchester United or Liverpool in that era, but if we won’t win it, Premier League five times – three times-in-a-row – doesn’t make sense? Of course it makes sense. Of course it’s important. This club won five in the last six, six in the last 10 and seven in the last 12. So in 12 years we won seven times, this is amazing. Not always with me, with Manuel [Pellegrini], with [Roberto] Mancini, in one decade, so that means this club in the last decade is highest in the table. But, everybody knows to be considered one real team, we have to win the Champions League. I’m sorry, but that’s the way it is.”
