Ollie Watkins is hungry for more goals after he became the first player in Aston Villa history to score in five successive Premier League matches.

Asked about his targets for the remaining months of the season,

Ollie Watkins said: “A goal a game! You never know what can happen. If someone had told me when I was on three goals I would score five in the next five, I wouldn’t have thought that was true. But anything can happen. I am going to score more goals by the end of the season, I’m a big believer of that. If I get one chance, I can always score and you never know what I can end the season on. I always want to keep pushing. If it is six, or seven games in a row, I don’t mind. I just want to keep scoring. When I had my first season here and scored six goals in my first seven games, I probably didn’t realise how hard that was (to achieve). A hat-trick against Liverpool, a brace against Arsenal, I probably didn’t realise until I look back now how tough that was. I’ve always tried to keep focused but I would say I’m a lot more focused now and a lot more confident in my ability at the age I am, with the confidence the coach gives me.”

Since domestic football resumed following the conclusion of the World Cup, only Man CIty’s Erling Haaland and Man Utd’s Marcus Rashford have scored more times than Watkins. The 27-year-old wants to be considered as a top forward in the Premier League.

Ollie Watkins said: “When I spoke a couple of months ago, I said I wanted to be talked about and show people I can hit these levels. I am working hard to keep proving that.”
