Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has agreed a new two-year deal with French giants Paris Saint-Germain. Now, a return for Pochettino looks even more remote with the 49-year-old having signed an extended deal at the Parc des Princes until 2023, as announced on Friday evening.

Mauricio Pochettino said: “I’m really very happy, for myself and also for my staff. It’s very important for us to feel the confidence of the club and we will give our maximum so that the supporters are proud of Paris Saint-Germain. That’s why we will try and reach our objectives all together, as one. Twenty years ago I was captain of this club and today I am the coach… It’s a dream come true.”

Pochettino has been with PSG since his appointment in January having replaced now Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel. He lifted the Coupe des France in his first season in charge but failed to claim the title with Lille being named as Ligue 1 champions – Pochettino’s men finishing second and just a point behind. He also managed to help PSG to their second-consecutive appearance in the Champions League semi-finals, only to lose out to Spurs’ Premier League rivals Manchester City.
