Marcus Rashford believes the World Cup break could come at the right time for Manchester United after their demanding start to life under manager Erik ten Hag. United face Fulham on Sunday afternoon in their final match before the season is put on hold for the major tournament.  The 25-year-old has already bettered his goal tally from last season, and he says he is enjoying his football under Ten Hag.

Marcus Rashford said: “The playing style we have created, better quality chances, and we are playing forward-thinking football. He likes possession, but he is also in favour of us going for the kill – and that’s what I am all about. I am enjoying my time under him, and hopefully we can carry it on.

When asked about the upcoming World Cup tournament, Rashford explained why taking a break from the intense club schedule could benefit United later in the season.

Marcus Rashford added: “The type of football that we play is very physically demanding, and I think a break will be good for us, the lads that get a break. We’ve got a really good squad, so for this squad to get a break, it is massively important, and yeah, we want to come back at the end of December and be full of energy and really take the games head-on.”

No matter the result, United won’t be in the top-four after the match with Fulham this weekend, but Rashford remains confident that his side can achieve that goal by the end of the campaign.

Marcus Rashford said: “Yeah, definitely.  Why not? We are not in a bad position at the moment, but obviously we want to be higher up on the table. It is quite tight, and we just have to concentrate on ourselves and keep improving.”
