Lewis Warrington has revealed he is loving life at Fleetwood Town and explained why Scott Brown and Frank Lampard are so similar. Warrington’s first appearance for the Cod Army arrived in a 1-1 draw with Wycombe Wanderers two days after completing his loan move, with his first 90 minutes coming in a hugely impressive away win at Peterborough United ten days later. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength and has caught the eye with a series of impressive displays. Fleetwood are next in action when they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to Highbury on Boxing Day, and speaking ahead of the fixture, Warrington has detailed why the loan move has been great for his development.
Lewis Warrington said: “I have enjoyed every minute of it and I feel I have fitted in well to the group and the lads, and I think I am doing well and happy with how it’s going thus far. I have learnt a lot of new things with learning a new style of play and it’s a step up from my last loan move. It has been great for my development, but I know I have to keep working hard and carry-on making appearances for the club. The gaffer [Scott Brown] wants us to play through the midfield and I feel my role is to build up that play and that’s my game. I like to get on the ball as much as I can, make passes. We play through me a lot and to have Josh Vela and others, it has been good to learn as we all complement each other. The last five, six months have gone really quick; but I am just loving every moment of it.”
And when asked about life under Town boss Scott Brown,
Lewis Warrington said: “He’s very similar to the gaffer at Everton [Frank Lampard] as they were two top players and when they speak to you, you listen and make notes because it’s valuable. I listen to what the gaffer [Scott Brown] has to say and everything he wants me to do and that also helps as he played in the same position. He’s always saying how I can improve on the training pitch, and I just have to take pointers and implement them on the pitch. To have the trust from him is massive. I just need to keep going, keep playing and be consistent week in week out.”
