Leicester City have confirmed that defender Mitch Clark has joined League One side Accrington Stanley on a permanent deal. Speaking following his transfer, Clark explained why he chose Accrington Stanley.
Mitch Clarke said: “My situation has been sticky as my contract was still with Leicester but I had a few clubs interested. Accrington being a League One team and on the up, I thought why not challenge myself? It’s great, I met the lads earlier in training, everyone has been really welcoming and I have had my first look at the ground, I can’t wait to set foot on it. I am an aggressive full-back who likes to get forward and put in a challenge and I definitely don’t like losing. I know the fans will be passionate and I can’t wait to get started.”
The 22-year-old spent two spells on loan with League Two side Port Vale, making a total of 61 appearances for the club, scoring one goal. He had featured 34 times for City’s U23 side, including 11 Premier League 2 games. Clark joins Accrington Stanley on a free transfer, after spending two years at City. He joined the club on a free transfer from Aston Villa back in the summer of 2019. The full-back has spent some time on trial with Championship side Blackpool this summer, playing in pre-season friendlies for the Seasiders. Clarke has now completed his move to Stanley, where he will be looking to impress in League One this season. They currently sit in fourth place in the table, having won three and lost one of their opening four games of the season.
